Selenite Tower Lamp

Selenite Tower Lamp

SKU: HMW008

This Selenite lamp looks like liquid light and can be used for energy cleansing, meditation and healing, bringing purifying white light into the body and home. ~ 25cm

Each lamp will vary slightly in size and shape and due to the nature of the crystal structure tiny splinters or shards may flake off during shipping. This is perfectly normal for selenite.

With its pristine white colour, translucency and beautiful striations, Selenite looks almost like a silky, lustrous pearl, shimmering with angelic elegance.
Once you cast your gaze up selenite, it may come as no surprise that it is named after the Greek goddess Selene, Titan Goddess of the Moon, who travelled night with the light of her moon chariot.
Selenite crystals are most often found in the USA, Poland, Russia, Greece, Japan, Australia, Argentina and Brazil. However, buried beneath the Sierra de Naica mountain in Chihuahua, northern Mexico, the Cueva de los Cristales (Cave of Crystals) is home to the largest crystals on planet Earth which happen to be selenite. Gigantic, shimmering beams of selenite, some as long as 11m and more than 1m wide, interlace the underground cavern which was discovered in 2000 by two brothers searching for silver, lead and zinc.
As the 10m by 30m cave had been flooded with heated water, these colossal shards were only revealed when the miners started to pump out the water, but it took another 7 years to figure out how these towering natural beams had been created,
29 million years ago, due to volcanic activity, the cave was filled with hot mineral rich water. This mineral known as Anhydrite dissolved, then slowly, over hundreds of thousands of years, its chemical components reassembled as gypsum. Large elongate crystals of gypsum are known as selenite. How cool is that?
