Rhodonite is a stone of compassion, an emotional balancer that clears away emotional wounds and scars from the past, and that nurtures love. It stimulates, clears and activates the heart. Rhodonite grounds energy, balances yin-yang, and aids in achieving one's highest potential. It heals emotional shock and panic.

This stone exudes a strong soothing energy that restores physical and emotional strength when it is depleted.

Rhodonite can help you to remain solid as a rock throughout the course of the day. Rather than give your energies to worrying, ruminating and trying to control things beyond your scope, you will instead be focused.

Rhodonite is a silicate mineral found in metamorphic rock that occurs as rounded crystals, masses, or grains in various manganese ores, often with rhodochrosite and found mainly in rose-pink with black veins shades. Its name derives from the Greek word "rhodon" (rose), because of its colour.

Rhodonite was first discovered in the Ural Mountains in Russia in the 1790s.

It quickly became an extremely popular stone in Russian culture as a talisman of protection for babies, travellers, and nobles. In 1913, Russia even declared rhodonite the national stone!

In Russian, rhodonite is called orletz, which means “the Eagle stone,” because eagles were so attracted to it that they carried pieces to their nests. 80 square meters of columns are inlaid with rhodonite in the Moscow Metro and Mayakovskaya Station in Russia.

Rhodonite is found in many parts of the world besides Russia like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, India, Peru, Sweden and the United States but the Ural mountains continue to be the most lucrative and culturally important mines.

During the Middle Ages, Rhodonite was considered to be a powerful stone with magical powers, bringing joy and happiness. The Greeks and Romans would wear it as an amulet during their trip to protect themselves against attacks and thieves.

Tsar Alexander II had the slab of the grave of his spouse made of rhodonite. It took 16 years to polish to make it and was all polished by hand. It was installed in Saint Petersburg's Cathedral in 1906.
